Investment Banking Recruiting Program

The Fall 2024 Investment Banking Recruiting Program is a selective recruiting prep program within the Fordham Finance Society focused on 2nd year students looking to win a summer 2026 investment banking summer analyst position.

The group be led by 3rd and 4th year students in the Fordham Finance Society through a partnership with Adventis. The group will last approximately 10 weeks and begin on Monday, September 30. Participants should expect to put in 4-5 hours of work per week during this 10-week timeline.

Applications are due by Friday, September 20.

Curriculum

Phase 1

Phase 1 will consist of participants going through the Financial Modeling Certification (FMC) Program and earning the FMC Level I Certification by Friday, November 1. Participants can expect to spend 20-25 hours working through the FMC Program.

  • This phase will be entirely self-led

  • The FMC Program will consists of participants building a three-statement financial model, valuation analysis, and a leveraged buyout analysis from scratch

  • The FMC Level I Certification requires participants to build a three-statement financial model from scratch in under 90 minutes

  • Earning the FMC Level I Certification will provide technical preparation for interviews and enable participants to demonstrate they have financial acumen, attention to detail, and other characteristics that will be attractive to investment bankers

Phase 2

Phase 2 will begin the week of Monday, September 30 and last 6 weeks. Students will meet with an instructor on a weekly basis and go through the curriculum in the Finance Recruiting Course. Participants can expect to spend 2-3 hours per week while working through Phase 2.

  • This phase will consist of pre-work before each weekly session

  • Each weekly session will be led by a 3rd or 4th year student from the Finance Academy

  • In this course, participants will learn about all the different industries in the finance ecosystem, how to approach networking, and how to approach building your resume and pitch.

Phase 3

Phase 3 will begin the week of Monday, November 11 and last 4 weeks. Students will meet with an instructor on a weekly basis and go through the curriculum in the Investment Banking Recruiting Course. Participants can expect to spend 2-3 hours per week while working through Phase 3.

  • This phase will consist of pre-work before each weekly session

  • Each weekly session will be led by a 3rd or 4th year student from the Finance Academy

  • In this course, participants will learn about the investment banking industry and the different bank types and how to answer key questions in the recruiting process.

The Fordham Finance Society

The mission statement of the Fordham Finance Society’ (FFS) is to promote knowledge, provide information, develop networks, be a host to intellectuals, and prepare students to develop into ethical and professional members of the financial community.

The FFS accomplishes these goals by organizing informational events, training workshops, alumni meet-and-greets and informal club meetings, and by disseminating information about financial news and events.

By joining the FFS , which includes more than 500 members, students have the opportunity to connect with and utilize the resources of peers, faculty, alumni and business professionals to achieve their professional aspirations.

The FFS assists students in preparing for internships and jobs in the finance industry by leveraging the resources of the Gabelli School of Business. The society works closely with the Personal and Professional Development Center to organize career building events such as interview-prep seminars and résumé workshops and to expose members to all of the different possibilities that exist in the world of finance.

Requirements

✓ Expected to earn their bachelor’s degree between December 2026 and June 2027

✓ Enrolled at Fordham University

✓ Academic integrity and a demonstrated interest in learning

✓ Demonstrate leadership and influence among the student community

✓ Show interest in a career in investment banking, private equity, or equity research

✓ Willing to put in 4-5 hours per week for 10 weeks
