How the Bentley University Investment Banking Club Made Adventis's FMC® Program a Core Competitive Advantage
The Bentley University Investment Banking Club (IBC) prepares students to break into competitive investment banking and high finance roles. To strengthen its technical preparation and accelerate student development, the IBC partnered with Adventis to make the Financial Modeling Certification (FMC®) Program a key component of its curriculum. Today, Adventis provides technical and soft skills training that gives Bentley students an edge in a highly competitive recruiting landscape.

Why The Bentley IBC Chose Adventis's FMC® Program
Many Bentley students are first introduced to investment banking and high finance after arriving on campus. Adventis' FMC® Program, provided through a partnership with the IBC, offers them a fast, hands-on way to level the playing field. Students gain critical technical expertise through structured, practical financial modeling exercises and supplement their knowledge with Adventis' behavioral, networking, and recruiting training.
"Taking Adventis early gave me a huge advantage. It built the foundation for everything I learned afterward, made my finance and accounting classes easier, and put me ahead of the curve for internships."
— Ryan, Incoming President of the Bentley University Investment Banking Club, Bentley '27
The FMC® Program teaches students to:
Build complete three-statement financial models from scratch
Strengthen Excel efficiency and technical interview readiness
Learn key valuation methodologies through dynamic modules
Develop confidence to network and interview effectively through Adventis' High Finance Recruiting Program
Giving Bentley Students a Competitive Edge in High Finance Recruiting
Bentley University's smaller size and non-target reputation mean students often need to demonstrate exceptional readiness earlier than their peers. Adventis's FMC® Program helps students build a technical and behavioral edge, creating a more competitive pipeline for elite finance roles.
The IBC is a supportive community that strives to improve the prospects of all its members interested in high finance. While there may be fewer students aiming for careers in investment banking, the IBC effectively raises the odds for motivated candidates. The club fosters an environment where everyone who expresses a desire to pursue a finance career has a chance to do so. Although not every member decides to follow through, those who are dedicated and put in the effort typically achieve success.
The IBC's strong partnership with Adventis has significantly improved outcomes, cultivating a culture of technical excellence and ambition among its members. This dedication to growth and skill development not only benefits individual students but also strengthens the overall reputation of the Bentley community in the competitive finance landscape.
Boot Camps As a Key Differentiator at Bentley
In-person boot camps at Bentley University have become a critical part of the Adventis experience—and a major value-add for students because they build connections, provide a dedicated day of learning, and supplement the FMC® Program videos:
Building Connections and Community: Bentley is a close-knit campus, and Adventis boot camps create opportunities for students to build relationships early with peers, mentors, and future leaders. Many Bentley students credit boot camps with helping them meet older students who went on to mentor them through recruiting and technical preparation.
"Meeting Lucas at my first boot camp was huge. It gave me a real connection to someone ahead of me—and it motivated me to become a Student Trainer myself."
— Ryan, Incoming President of the Bentley University Investment Banking Club, Bentley '27
These early relationships often evolve into powerful mentorship and networking opportunities, giving students an inside track on everything from technical preparation to job referrals.
Providing a Dedicated Day of Learning: In a busy world of constant distractions, boot camps help students break through procrastination by setting aside a full day for immersive learning.
"Getting started is the hardest part. Boot camps force you to block off time in your calendar, sit down, and get through it. Once you rip the band-aid off, it's a lot easier to go back and practice and build your skills."
— Lucas, President of the Bentley University Investment Banking Club, Bentley '26
By spending a focused day working hands-on with Excel and financial modeling, students accelerate their technical development and lay the groundwork for future success.
Enhancing the Online FMC® Program: While the online FMC® Program offers flexibility, the boot camps provide an engaging, high-energy environment where students can learn together, ask questions, and stay motivated. Many students who complete a boot camp find it easier to continue working through the online modules afterward, creating a blended learning experience.
By combining the best of hands-on practice, mentorship, and accountability, Adventis boot camps have become a cornerstone of student success at Bentley University.
How the Bentley IBC Uses the FMC® Certification Across Campus
Bentley's success stems from several key strategies:
Use of the FMC® Program as a Screening Tool:
While certification is not mandatory for admission into the club, earning the Adventis certification early strongly signals a candidate's seriousness and technical capability to club leadership.
"We promote Adventis from day one. Students who enroll early and get certified stand out immediately—and usually go further in the recruiting process."
— Ryan, Incoming President of the Bentley University Investment Banking Club, Bentley '27
Student-Led In-Person Boot Camps:
Adventis hosts 3–4 boot camps per year at Bentley University. These full-day, hands-on workshops allow students to accelerate their technical learning, connect with club leaders, and build early mentorship relationships. Many current leaders, including Lucas and Ryan, were inspired to become Student Trainers after attending boot camps.
Technical and Behavioral Prep Combined:
Bentley students benefit from the full breadth of Adventis resources—not just financial modeling, but also modules covering:
Behavioral interview preparation
Storytelling frameworks
Networking tips
Resume and job search best practices
This holistic preparation significantly impacts outcomes, particularly for Bentley students who are newer to investment banking concepts than their traditional target school peers.
Why the FMC® Program Works for the IBC
Bentley's environment is unique—smaller size, non-target recruiting dynamics, and a student body where many are discovering investment banking for the first time. The Adventis partnership addresses these challenges by giving students the skills and confidence they need to excel.
"Bentley is a smaller school, and a lot of students don't know they want to pursue high finance right away. Adventis gives those students the tools and competitive edge they need to catch up—and stand out."
— Lucas, President of the Bentley University Investment Banking Club, Bentley '26
Students who complete Adventis certifications early see compounding benefits: stronger academic performance, faster technical acumen, more successful networking, and better internship and full-time recruiting outcomes.
What Other Universities Can Learn from Bentley’s Success
Use Boot Camps to Inspire and Identify Leaders: Boot camps give students a powerful entry point, and help leaders spot motivated candidates early.
Supplement Technical Skills with Soft Skills: Adventis's recruiting training builds critical confidence for networking and interviewing.
Support All Students: Investment Banking Clubs should focus not only on the strongest students, but also on supporting those who might just need the right resources to break through.
"The goal of the club is to get everyone up to speed so they can compete when it matters. Adventis helps make that possible."
— Ryan, Incoming President of the Bentley University Investment Banking Club, Bentley '27
