Welcome, Class of 2029!
If you're targeting an investment banking, private equity, or broader high-finance internship for your junior summer (summer 2028), recruiting has already begun—and it moves faster than most people expect.
We expect summer 2028 internship applications to begin appearing in August or September 2026, pick up throughout the fall, and surge from November through January. We anticipate roughly 1,200 summer 2028 internship postings between now and May 2028.
There are also two important opportunities to track alongside your junior-summer search:
Early insight programs: We anticipate roughly 50 programs launching between now and early spring 2027. These programs can be a valuable way to build relationships with firms well before formal junior-summer recruiting.
Sophomore summer internship applications: We anticipate around 160 summer 2027 internship postings over the next eight months. These opportunities can provide valuable experience before junior-summer recruiting accelerates.
View and apply to applications in the Adventis Internship Database, where we track finance internship opportunities and alert you when they open.

Expected Timeline for Firms Launching Summer 2028 Applications
We anticipate a handful of firms posting their summer 2028 internship applications during August 2026. Then look for a gradual trickle of positions into October 2026, then an uptick by mid November 2026. That momentum will likely carry into December and January, with January being an explosion of firms posting. Application postings will then slow down from February 2026 through July 2026. Then there will be a resurgence in August 2026 and September 2026. From there it's a slow trickle of new applications until things settle down in May of 2028.
Note: Many firms post Summer 2028 positions across an extended timeline. For example, a firm might post or repost Summer 2028 applications in January, March, and July. In this situation, the firm would be counted as beginning to post in January.

Why the Junior Summer Internship Matters
The junior summer finance internship (in this case, summer 2028 internships for the class of 2029) continues to be the way most undergrads secure their first full-time role in finance.
The recruiting timeline for these internships begins during freshman year, begins to heat up in the fall of sophomore year, and continues all the way until spring of junior year.
We help you navigate this 2-year journey by following, on a daily basis, a little under 200 firms that provide junior summer internships.
