At select universities, we provide one-day, in-person boot camps to augment our online FMC Program. The instruction for these boot camps is very similar to the instruction for the FMC Program in our portal. Our Student Trainers deliver these boot camps. In order to apply for the role, candidates must earn their FMC Level II Certification, complete our 60 Minute Financial Modeling exam, and submit a brief interview video.
60 Minute Exam
Instructions
This exam requires you to build our entire instructor financial model (which includes the three-statement financial model, public comparables analysis, acquisition comparables analysis, WACC analysis, DCF analysis, and LBO analysis) within 60 minutes. You are required to record a video of your screen while doing this test. Its important you use the “Alt+Tab” test with the master model while doing this exam in order to insure 100% accuracy. You should be able to utilize a screen recording application on your laptop for this recording.
Here are some specific steps and tips on building out the 60 minute exam:
- Prep for the 60-minute test. We recommend reviewing all of the videos again, as you are required to build the model in 60 minutes, exactly how it is done in the videos and in a real boot camp. Please do not use shortcuts to make building the model easier that are not shown in the videos. For example, make sure the balance sheet is balanced after every step.
- Video recording software. We've had a lot of luck using Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) as a screen recording software. If you use this application, here are the steps to take:
- Once downloaded, under the “Sources” box on the home page, press the plus (+) button.
- Press “Display Capture” and click “OK” to create a new source.
- Leave the capture method on automatic and make sure to choose the correct display. If you are using more than monitor, choose the monitor that you plan on building the model on, then press “OK”
- Steps for recording your screen. Here are the appropriate steps to take:
- Open the Adventis macros, the master model, a blank copy of the model, and the inputs.
- Start a 60-minute timer (either on your phone or computer).
- Go back to OBS and press “Start Recording.”
- Build the entire model from the income statement through the LBO. Be sure to use the Alt+Tab test to compare your model to the master after every complete sheet.
- Press “Stop Recording” in OBS.
- Share your work with Adventis. We recommend using Google Drive. Follow the steps below:
- Open Google Drive and ensure you’re logged into your Google account.
- Click the “+New” button on the left hand side and upload your video from your computer. If your video file is already uploaded to Google Drive, locate it in your Drive’s file list.
- Click on the video file once to highlight it.
- Click on “Manage access.”
- Under “General access,” select “Anyone with the link.”
- Click “Copy link” and paste the link into an email to info@adventiscg.com.
HOW TO APPLY
Once your videos are recorded, send an email to info@adventiscg.com with the subject “Student Trainer Application” and provide links to the two videos in the body of the email.
