How the Corsair Society at the University of Georgia Made Adventis's FMC® Program a Standard for Technical Excellence

The Corsair Society is one of the most selective and results-driven undergraduate organizations at the University of Georgia (UGA), placing its members in top investment banking, consulting, and technology roles. To raise the bar on technical proficiency and support early talent development, Corsair selected the Adventis Financial Modeling Certification (FMC®) Program as its exclusive financial training partner. By making Adventis certification a requirement, Corsair reinforces its commitment to excellence and ensures that every candidate entering the program is prepared to uphold the Society's reputation for producing top-tier talent.

About the Corsair Society

The Corsair Society is a student-run organization that partners with the Terry College of Business and Morehead Honors College to identify and support the University of Georgia's highest-potential students. With separate cohorts for investment banking, management consulting, and technology, Corsair provides rigorous technical and behavioral training, alumni connections, and a clear path to elite internships and full-time offers.

Corsair's Investment Banking cohort admits 30–35 sophomores every fall semester. The organization maintains a reputation for producing industry-ready candidates with high-quality output, a trait consistently recognized by recruiters across top-tier investment banks and private equity firms.

Founded: 2007

Annual cohort: 30-35 IB students

FMC® Level I Certified: 18 students

Why the Corsair Society Chose the Adventis FMC® Program

Adventis aligns perfectly with Corsair's mission to produce top-tier candidates. The Adventis FMC® Program offers both a comprehensive foundation and advanced technical training that includes real-world financial modeling applications.

For many Corsair students, Adventis is their first exposure to actual financial modeling. The course's rigor and structure challenge students to go beyond theory and gain hands-on experience with real-world finance scenarios.

Adventis has helped Corsair members:

  • Learn core valuation and accounting principles

  • Build a fully functional financial model from scratch

  • Develop confidence in technical interviews

  • Strengthen their answer to "why investment banking" and recruiting narratives

Integrating Adventis into the Corsair Curriculum

During the fall of 2024, Corsair ran a pilot program strongly recommending that 34 new members in the class of 2027 earn the Adventis certification. Over half of these members earned the Adventis FMC® Level I Certification and benefited from their achievement while networking and interviewing. The certification is now expected for all members post-admission, with incoming students encouraged to enroll even before applying.

Future Corsair members will complete the FMC® Program primarily during fall semester of sophomore year or over winter break before spring semester—an ideal time to focus on skill-building before spring recruiting. Those who complete the certification consistently perform at higher levels, both in interviews and internships.

Elevating UGA's Standing in Investment Banking

UGA is not a traditional "target school," so the Corsair Society's reputation is everything. Through Adventis, Corsair has standardized technical excellence and elevated its members' performance to rival those from elite institutions.

Top investment banks have taken notice, citing the high quality of Corsair Society students as a reason to diversify their recruiting beyond traditional pipelines.

Scaling Adventis Certification at UGA

Corsair has laid a strong foundation to scale Adventis across campus, with initiatives that mirror successful implementations at peer institutions:

  • Requiring Members to Earn Certification: After a successful inaugural campaign with the class of 2027, Corsair is requiring the certification of future cohorts of students. This will enable Corsair to build long-term value and a culture of student-driven learning and preparation.

  • Freshman Outreach: Corsair began promoting Adventis to freshmen looking to differentiate themselves for the application process to become a member of Corsair in the fall semester. Taking the Adventis FMC® Program early gives rising second-year students a critical head start on technical skills, interview preparation, and overall competitiveness before the recruitment process begins.

  • Student Trainers: Corsair is identifying top-performing members to serve as Adventis Student Trainers—peer leaders who deliver technical training and model the organization's values.

  • Boot Camps: Corsair hosted a boot camp during the spring semester of 2025 and plans to host 2–3 annually. These in-person sessions help students build confidence in a collaborative setting.

Why Adventis Works for Corsair

For Corsair, the value of Adventis goes beyond the curriculum—it aligns with their ethos of hard work, meritocracy, and personal growth.

Students learn to think like analysts and build the resilience required to succeed in high-pressure environments. With the Adventis FMC® Program now integrated into Corsair's DNA, the organization is poised to continue sending its members to the world's top firms.
